The Blog Host Blacklist - What To Do Now?

In light of the recent news regarding Blogitive removing some of the blogs hosts that are not Blogitive friendly I decided to write about some of the options available. First of all those of you who have blogs hosted on the “blacklist”, try not to panic.

You may not realize this but transferring your blog to your own host is actually better for you in the long run. Blogging has becoming a way for regular “Joes” to generate an income. Paid blogging, Affiliate Marketing and Adsense are a few of the options available to bloggers these days. Whatever you choose to do don’t limit yourself by limiting your blog growth. (more…)

We all start blogging for different reasons. Some people blog as a sort of newsletter for their friends, creating a regularly updated mass email without all of those little arrow thingies on the left margin. Some do it because they picture themselves to be the next Kottke or Dooce or Gawker. Some blog because they want to be writers and blogging is the best way to get their writing out there to be read. Transfering WordPress.com to Your Own Domain for WordPress

I received an email this morning from one of our bloggers, Deb, who asked a great question. “How do I switch from my hosted WordPress blog to my own domain name, without breaking the TOS for Blogitive?” I decided to make this a blog posting to help anyone else who may have this question.

Fighting Comment Spam

If you have been a blogger for any amount of time you are sure to have been a victim of comment spam. If you are one of the lucky few that don’t know what comment spam is I will give you a brief explanation. Comment spam also known as blog spam is a form of spamdexing. Spamdexing is by definition the practice of deliberately creating web pages which will be indexed by search engines in order to increase the chance of website or page being placed close to the beginning of search engine results.
